The Phoenixville Community Health Foundation recently formed an educational program for non profit leaders.  The program: Community Health Leadership Academy trains these community volunteers in an intensive program on leadership is taught by locally and nationally known instructors.

The participants then apply their new-found knowledge by developing a community service projects that will benefit the greater Phoenixville community.

Frees, who was selected to teach the topics of influence, persuasion and leadership, presented his first two hour-long program on Friday, January 18, 2013.  He's taught his program each year since then.

“These are dedicated and smart non profit leaders.  It was an honor to be able to help them to further develop their already strong and productive leadership styles” said Frees.

“I know that they’re smart from their great questions and participation and I know that they are dedicated since they sat through a two hour program starting at 8:00 am.”

Frees, who has written books on the topics of communication, persuasion, and influence was selected because he regularly writes and presents on these topics and he grew up in Phoenixville and Chester County. David Frees and his family have been involved in local philanthropy and charitable work for four generations.

In fact, Frees’ daughter Jamie Frees, now a grad student in anthropology and archeology, was also one of the founders of the Chester County Community Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Programs while a student at Great Valley High School.

Frees, who has also served as a past Chair of the Chester County Community Foundation, and teaches lawyers, mediators, corporate and academic audiences brought all of this experience to the Foundation’s new program.

According to Dr. Louis Beccaria, President & CEO of the Foundation “Thanks to Dave Frees.  This was a great program. This Academy is designed to grow future Champions of the Community, and with now ninety-eight graduates the program is having a positive impact on the greater Phoenixville community”.
