Why Do I Need to Fill Out an Estate Planning Questionnaire?

http://www.paestateplanners.com/ If you’re here, you’re probably asking yourself the question, “Why do I have to fill out an estate planning questionnaire in order to get my will, trust and durable power of attorney?” As Pennsylvania estate planning lawyer David Frees explains in this video, there are a number of reasons.

If we don’t ask you all of the right questions before we get started, we may produce documents that look perfectly acceptable on the face of them, but if you have, for example, an IRA, 401k or a stock account with one or more people as the beneficiaries, they may be getting that asset even though the will says it’s supposed to go somewhere else.

So what things do we need to know?

  1. What assets do you own and are there any beneficiaries
  2. What is the value of these assets?
  3. What did you pay for these assets?
  4. Who are your children?
  5. Are they your children/your spouse’s children?
  6. Are you emitting any of these children?
  7. Do you have a child or grandchild with special needs?

We ask you to fill out this questionnaire, filled with some of the above questions so that we can make sure we are doing a good job for you and achieve your estate planning goals.
